Wonderful Words

Wonderful Words

As we look at words, let’s start with God’s word. In John 15:12-17, Jesus said that "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." When we truly love others and show compassion, we are showing our faith in Jesus Christ. The words we use are part of how we display our adherence to this great commandment.

Our words have more impact than any of us probably realize. Consider the power of God’s Word. John 1:1-3 states ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

His Word was Jesus Christ, and He was great enough to create the heavens and the Earth. What are we creating by the words we use? Are we creating safe spaces? Are we shaping children into humble, grateful, and confident adults? Are we lifting the weight on those who may be down in a world flooded by negativity?

It is important to show those around us love and kindness. For example, we can show people at the grocery store kindness by sharing nice words and being Christ-like. Instead of getting frustrated with the cashier for taking too long we can take a moment to slow down, be grateful for the conveniences we have, and thank them for their work.

We can show we love by giving others the benefit of the doubt on social media, responding to criticism with grace and tact.

Words are more than just a transactional communication tool, words are also a powerful vehicle of meaning. What kind of words enter your mind and heart that go unspoken? What are the words that you use internally to describe yourself? Making our self-talk positive can have major benefits in our life. Show yourself some love!

Remember Jesus is The Word; Not only did He create, He saved. He was sent by God to bring us His love. He gave His life so that we might live with Him eternally. The love of Christ should be at the heart of all the words we use to communicate to others and ourselves.

We pray we can all use kinder words and show Christ’s love to those around us.

One big way that our Christian Planner Family uses words is to stay focused throughout the year, month, week, or day on what is most important to them. If you're looking for a word, consider using our Word Generator.
