It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
Psalm 118:8 NIV
It is interesting the paths we choose to take. We always want a better path, but how often do we take the better option? Maybe we must ask ourselves what we consider is better.
Do we see the Lord’s way as better or human ways? The answer to this question can be found in our approach to anything. In some instances we can seek God's direction and in others we seek human direction.
However, when we know that God’s ways are above our ways, and that His thoughts are above our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9), how could we not choose His way over humans' ways? His way is clearly the better path.
Refuge in the Lord is the better way. When we trust in the human path through comparison and expectation, we are inevitably let down. Seeking God for better in all things will take us beyond what we could have imagined or hoped for.
Considerations for your planner:
- Do you believe that He knows better? Do you trust that His ways are above our ways? Write down what it would take for you to trust this in Him over human direction.
A Prayer for Our Community:
Lord, Be with us today as we learn to trust in your ways over the ways of the world. We want to know that you are above everything. Help us to not become consumed by what people think they know. We want to be consumed by all that you know. We will trust you today and each day, because this is where our refuge comes from. Help us to look to you in every circumstance in our lives. Amen.
